Such a decline from years ago. I recently moved back to the Mooresville area after being away over 10 years. In the past, I had bought nearly all my aquarium fish at Sea Shell. They cost a bit more than the chains, but I was willing to pay that premium to get healthier stock and support local small business. Now that I have settled again, I am planning tanks. I went into Sea Shell to browse and discuss plans/ideas. I was so disappointed. While the employee on duty was very nice and willing to be accommodating and order whatever I wished, the store itself was in shambles compared to what I remember. The smells from the small animal cages was overpowering. Most of the fish tanks were empty. I can understand it doesn't make financial sense to stock fish if you can't sell them, but the tanks themselves were in a deplorable state. Dirt, algae, general disarray- I question the health of the few fish left. I'm sad to see that this place has declined so much, and while I really do wish I could support them and order my stock through them, I simple can't trust that the fish would be kept in healthy conditions until I picked them up.

This place could use a little TLC, but I still love it. Great opportunity for some volunteer work, that would help a local small business. I got my cat here 8yrs ago and she's still thriving. Also purchased dozens of fish.

Absolutely terrible! I don't know how this store has managed to stay in business for this long. You walk into the store and you're hit with this awful smell. All pet stores have a certain smell of course but the smell here makes petsmart look like bath and body work. All of the products and shelving are covered in think layers of dust, dirt, and god knows what else. The place just looks run down in every area. The outside, floors, shelving, animal enclosures, EVERYTHING. To make things worse, the animals are in terrible conditions. Especially the mice and rats. There are far too many of them crowded into a small dirty tank. And I witnessed some thin looking rats eating a few of their still ALIVE and moving tank mates! Once I asked the woman there where they got their puppies from and she was reluctant to answer. Which leads me to believe that they came from puppy mills or some place similar. They don't have anything here that you won't find at some nicer more popular brand stores. I think the only okay thing about this store is the funny talking bird they have there. Other than that I'd give this place -5 starts if I could.

Arrived at 4:33pm and already closed with no notification of why they were already closed. Had a plaque on the door that had their hours too but nothing letting people know why they closed early without notice.

The lady that owns it is very nice and always very helpful. Only down side is they almost never have big enough rats for me...
